Blockstream Capital Partners (BCP) has moved to expand its institutional Bitcoin trading and yield business with the acquisition of a division of Numeus Group. The move will bring across a ten‑person derivatives team and a suite of Bitcoin‑focused trading strategies.
The deal places Deepak Gulati — a volatility and derivatives specialist who co‑founded Numeus in 2021 — as Co‑Chief Investment Officer of Blockstream Capital Management. He will share the role with Rodrigo Rodriguez, the former JPMorgan proprietary trading head who later founded Argentiere Capital.
BCP said the acquisition strengthens its position in institutional Bitcoin markets by adding crypto‑derivatives and volatility capabilities that complement its execution and real‑time risk analytics platform. The firm expects the combined expertise to support yield‑enhancing strategies for corporate treasuries, asset managers and other institutional holders of Bitcoin.
Managing Partner PeterPaul Pardi said the move reflects rising demand for sophisticated Bitcoin risk‑management tools.
“Core to the growth of our business is industry‑leading talent, proprietary trading strategies and adding to our best‑in‑class risk management,” he said. “By acquiring Numeus’s trading business, we’re adding proven crypto‑derivatives and volatility capabilities that institutions increasingly demand.”
Gulati said BCP “has the ambition, expertise and platform to set the standard for how institutions access and manage their Bitcoin exposure”.
Komainu — already a strategic investment of BCP — played a key role in the transaction and will provide exchange connectivity, collateral management and custody.
CEO Paul Frost‑Smith said Komainu is “committed to advancing both innovation and institutional adoption across the Bitcoin ecosystem”.
The deal follows BCP’s December 2025 acquisition of Corbiere Capital Management and forms part of its push to build a full‑stack institutional Bitcoin platform.
Komainu participated in Capital Pioneer’s Digital Asset Summit in October. Read all about the summit on our dedicated webpage.
