Accenture joins Hedera Council supporting enterprise AI infrastructure

Global consultancy firm Accenture has joined the Hedera network’s governing council to strengthen trust, transparency and governance in enterprise-grade AI systems.

With more organisations under significant pressure to operate artificial intelligence in a compliant and auditable way – especially in regulated sectors – traditional oversight mechanisms are increasingly insufficient to meet the scale and complexity of so-called “agentic” AI systems.

Through this partnership, Accenture will develop Hedera-based solutions that include tamper-proof data and verifiable records of AI-driven actions. The aim is to ensure decision-making takes place in transparent, distributed infrastructure, rather than relying solely on self-governing AI systems that can be harder to verify.

“We are proud to welcome Accenture to Hedera Council,” said Mance Harmon, chairman of Hedera Council.

“As AI becomes more embedded in how organisations operate, building trust is becoming increasingly important. Accenture brings deep experience helping enterprises navigate change, and their perspective will help accelerate meaningful adoption of Hedera across global industries.”

As a member of the council, Accenture will operate a network node and hold equal voting rights alongside other members such as Google, IBM and Dell Technologies. The council is responsible for network governance, approving updates and maintaining the integrity of the platform.

The firm is exploring enterprise use cases across financial services, the public sector and large-scale digital infrastructure, including the tokenisation of digital assets, AI-driven payments, and data governance tools for government agencies.

Accenture will also work with Hedera to develop a solution using governance technology from EQTY Lab to help public sector organisations manage sensitive data while maintaining transparency and auditability.

This move reflects rising demand for infrastructure that can support AI adoption while meeting evolving regulatory expectations.

Bryan Rich, Accenture’s global data and AI lead for health and public service, said: “The Hedera public network and its unique governance model enables government agencies and enterprises in regulated environments to transact in a transparent and auditable fashion, strengthening compliance with relevant policies.”
