Citi launches real-time Custody+ platform

Citi Investor Services has unveiled Custody+, a new suite of near- and real-time custody solutions designed to help institutional investors operate in an increasingly always-on market environment.

The launch comes as the bank completes the US rollout of its Single Event Processing technology, with more than 80% of Citi’s asset servicing event volume now processed in real time.

Custody+ combines a range of capabilities spanning asset servicing, settlements, foreign exchange, liquidity management, data services and digital asset custody. Citi said the platform is designed to support clients as capital markets adapt to compressed settlement cycles, continuous trading and AI-driven decision-making.

Chris Cox, Head of Investor Services at Citi, said: “Custody+ is a clear example of our investment as we build infrastructure to eliminate latency and drag for institutional investor clients. By integrating our global network with data and technology, we are redefining the operational backbone for clients who require precision, transparency and continuous market access.”

Among the new capabilities are real-time asset servicing, instant settlement functionality, AI-powered tax processing and enhanced market intelligence tools. Citi also confirmed plans to launch digital asset custody later this year, beginning with Bitcoin custody services.

The bank said clients will eventually be able to access both traditional and digital asset custody through a single framework, creating a more integrated operating model as tokenised assets and digital markets continue to grow.

Amit Agarwal, Head of Custody at Citi Investor Services, said: “Custody+ is the product of a multi-year commitment to building infrastructure that matches the speed of our clients’ strategies. We have designed each solution to help clients simplify their operating models amid increasing complexities in the operating environment.”
