Charles Schwab expands crypto platform offering

Charles Schwab will add solana, avalanche and chainlink to Schwab Crypto accounts.

It comes as large brokerages continue expanding digital asset offerings amid growing retail and institutional demand for cryptocurrencies.

Joe Vietri, head of digital assets at Charles Schwab, said the additions would give clients more options within their investment portfolios.

“With this expansion, clients will have more choices to build a digital asset allocation alongside the investing and banking experience they know and trust at Schwab,” he said.

The brokerage says clients will be able to buy and sell the three tokens in the coming months through Schwab Crypto, which began rolling out to customers in May 2026.

The platform already offers direct trading in bitcoin and ethereum and Schwab says it plans to add further digital assets over time.

Vietri says that the latest additions are consistent with the firm’s strategy of offering access to established cryptocurrencies supported by educational tools, research and client services.

Schwab Crypto also allows customers to view digital assets alongside traditional investments on the company’s web, mobile and thinkorswim platforms.

The move marks another step in Schwab’s push into digital assets.

The group launched spot bitcoin and ethereum trading earlier this year, charging 75 basis points per trade and integrating crypto services into its broader banking and brokerage offering.

Schwab oversees more than $13 trillion in client assets, making it one of the largest traditional financial institutions to offer direct cryptocurrency trading.

Established brokerages are increasingly competing with specialist crypto exchanges by bringing digital assets into mainstream investment accounts.

The addition of solana, avalanche and chainlink reflect growing interest in blockchain networks and crypto infrastructure projects beyond bitcoin and ethereum as traditional finance firms broaden access to the asset class.
