CoinShares launches stablecoin yield service on Safe

CoinShares has launched institutional-grade stablecoin yield strategies for Safe wallet users.

Rising stablecoin balances are fuelling demand for institutional-grade yield solutions that preserve self-custody.

Jean-Marie Mognetti, co-founder, president and chief executive officer at CoinShares (pictured), said the partnership brings institutional asset management on-chain while keeping users in control of their funds.

“Institutions shouldn’t have to choose between maintaining control of their assets and accessing professionally designed yield strategies,” he said.

The Nasdaq-listed digital asset manager has partnered with Safe Labs, the company behind Safe{Wallet}, and Railnet to offer the strategies through Safe’s Earn widget.

Under the arrangement, CoinShares designs and oversees the investment strategies and associated risk management, while Railnet provides the vault infrastructure connecting the products to Safe’s self-custody platform. Users retain control of their assets at all times and can withdraw funds when required, according to the companies.

The service is aimed at corporate treasuries, foundations, family offices, decentralised organisations and private crypto investors seeking yield on stablecoin balances without handing assets to a third party.

Mognetti said the initiative extends CoinShares’ experience in regulated financial markets into blockchain-based finance, adding that the collaboration removes a longstanding trade-off between control and access to professionally managed investments.

Rahul Rumalla, chief executive officer at Safe, said the integration would help make institutional-grade on-chain finance more accessible while preserving self-custody.

The launch comes as stablecoins continue to gain traction among corporates and financial institutions. Industry estimates suggest more than $300bn of stablecoins are now in circulation, with increasing demand for treasury management and yield-generating products rather than simple custody services.

CoinShares, one of Europe’s largest listed digital asset investment firms, said the partnership is the first step in a broader effort to bring regulated investment management capabilities directly onto blockchain networks.
