Transfer agent SS&C Technologies and the software arm of funds platform Allfunds have announced a tie up to enhance distribution opportunities and expedite the evolution of the investment industry.
Speaking on a panel at the IAEngine EM Global 2025 in London, Jason Webb, director of Web3 at SS&C Technologies, and Ruben Nieto Martin-Vares, managing director at Allfunds Blockchain, outlined plans that would be published in a few weeks.
“We’re looking to help our clients tokenise and embrace the new world, but also not forgetting the traditional distributors and the established platforms,” said Webb. “That’s why we’re very happy to announce our new partnership with AllFunds Blockchain. We see Allfunds very much as one of the leaders in the space, with embedded blockchain behind their established distribution platform of over 900 distributors.”
Martin-Vares noted that the pace of change at which the industry needed to move was rapidly increasing, putting pressure on individual companies and the sectors within which they operate.
“There is an unstoppable demographic change here,” he said. “You see a group of 17-year-old teenagers … This is your client. This is your client in five years.”
He said the industry needed to undergo significant transformation “to create a fully different investment spirit for those guys”.
“Because if not, they are not going to buy your funds.”
Webb added: “What we really need to do is move into the creation of new outcome-based solutions. We’re experts at working out the individual needs of our clients in wealth management, but we still just offer them the same old product.”
He said, if the industry really wanted to move to a simpler, more transparent, easier to run ecosystem, “we’ve got to move to the next step: the tokenisation of underlying assets, which would create closer relationships between the token issuer and the end client, along with a range of distribution opportunities”.
The companies will publish detail on the tie up in the coming weeks.
