BlackRock has plans to invest £500 million in British data-centre infrastructure during US President Donald Trump’s state visit, according to Sky News.
In collaboration with Digital Gravity Partners, a digital infrastructure investment manager, the investment will focus on acquiring and modernising existing centres to improve capacities.
The President’s visit, planned for 16 to 18 September, follows Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s invitation in February.
Last week, Sky News reported that Larry Fink, BlackRock’s chairman and CEO, would be a part of the business delegation present for Trump’s visit.
Rising interest in artificial intelligence and cloud computing is driving demand for digital infrastructure, reflected in these investments.
