Three leading US digital asset industry bodies have called on the US Senate to bring the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act to the Senate floor, arguing that the legislation would provide long-awaited regulatory certainty for the country’s digital asset sector.
In a joint letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the Crypto Council for Innovation, Blockchain Association, and The Digital Chamber urged lawmakers to prioritise consideration of the bill, which would establish a comprehensive federal regulatory framework for digital assets in the United States.
The organisations said the need for legislation has become increasingly urgent as digital asset adoption continues to grow, with nearly 67 million Americans now owning digital assets.
The CLARITY Act would create a clearer regulatory structure for the industry, including defined oversight responsibilities for the SEC and Commodity Futures Trading Commission, while introducing federal consumer protection requirements for digital asset intermediaries.
The legislation passed the US House of Representatives with bipartisan support last year and is now awaiting consideration by the full Senate.
In the letter, the organisations argued that advancing the bill would help provide the regulatory certainty needed to keep digital asset innovation and investment within the United States rather than moving overseas.
The push for Senate consideration marks the latest step in efforts to establish the first comprehensive federal framework for digital assets in the US, providing greater regulatory certainty for investors, businesses and financial institutions.
