Franklin Templeton brings tokenised fund to Asia

The Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund, known as grBENJI, has launched through the HashKey Exchange Earn channel.

The fund invests primarily in US government securities, repurchase agreements and US dollar cash assets, seeking to generate income while preserving capital and liquidity. It aims to maintain a net asset value of approximately $1 per share.

Access is restricted to professional investors who meet the eligibility requirements of both HashKey Exchange and the issuer. Eligible clients can subscribe to and redeem the fund in US dollars, with transactions expected to settle on a T+1 basis.

The partnership expands Franklin Templeton’s presence in regulated digital asset markets across Asia while broadening the investment products available through HashKey’s Earn platform.

Chetan Karkhanis, senior vice-president of digital assets client engagement at Franklin Templeton, said: “We are excited to launch our tokenised money market fund on the HashKey Exchange platform.

“Leveraging blockchain technology, the fund provides investors with enhanced transparency, security, accessibility, speed and cost efficiency.”

Haiyang Ru, CEO of HashKey Exchange BG, said the partnership reflects increasing institutional demand for regulated investment products that are backed by real-world assets.

“By bringing the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund onto our Earn channel, we are directly addressing the surging institutional demand for compliant, real-world asset yield solutions,” he added.

The firms said they would explore further opportunities to expand their tokenised investment product offering across additional markets and asset classes.
