Robinhood launches crypto trading for UK investors

Robinhood is expanding its UK offering into crypto, launching direct digital asset trading through Bitstamp UK within its all-in-one investment app.

The rollout, which begins this week for eligible UK customers, will give users access to more than 50 cryptocurrencies alongside stocks, shares ISAs, equities, options and futures.

Robinhood says the service will have zero trading fees, although customers will still pay applicable foreign-exchange fees.

The move marks another step in Robinhood’s push to bring digital assets into mainstream investment platforms.

Jordan Sinclair, President of Robinhood U.K. and General Manager of Bitstamp UK, said a growing number of UK investors view digital assets as part of a diversified portfolio.

The company is also introducing Robinhood Cortex Digests for Crypto, an AI-powered feature designed to analyse breaking news, market data, technical indicators and proprietary insights before presenting the factors driving crypto price movements in plain English.

Crypto trading will be provided through Bitstamp UK, which is registered with the FCA as a cryptoasset service provider. Robinhood also states that crypto holdings are not protected by the FSCS or FOS.
